Dear Region of Waterloo

Continuing to Evict Despite Knowing Better
(Why?)

April 15, 2026

Picture
Given the Region of Waterloo issuing an eviction order to an individual residing outdoors on regional property, I'm really feeling a need to to underscore that this action stands in direct contradiction to current case law. The Valente decision of 2023 set a clear precedent that eviction cannot proceed when there is a lack of adequate shelter.

Louder, for those of you in the back...
There are NO shelter options right now!

I strongly urge the region to reconsider these illegal actions and focus towards ensuring the rights and dignity of the unhoused are upheld.

Why not let your experts do their work?
