Education

For the duration of my childhood, I was enrolled within the French Education School System, attending either immersion or full language schools from kindergarten until the end of grade 9. In 1996, I attended an adult alternative school in Windsor. There, at the age of 15, I obtained two high school credits. Following this I dropped out to gain employment, having only obtained 11 credits towards my High School Diploma.

In 2001, at the age of 20, I returned to school, attending academic upgrading, in preparation to write my GED. I did this while working full time, continental shifts driving forklift, and attending on my days off of work. This took many months, but resulted in my passing both my GED and the necessary Canadian aptitude tests in Math and English, required for me to consider enrolling in College. Although I applied for a few programs at Conestoga at this time, and was accepted into an Accounting program, I chose not to go for the financial strain it would place on me.

After having my oldest daughter in 2004, I realized that my normal venue of employment would no longer suit me as I was a single mom and driving forklift and other forms of dock work would leave me not seeing her as frequently as she needed in her younger years. There was an H&R Block near where I lived at the time, that was offering tax classes. I decided to enroll in it as a way to get out of the house, and start back to work in a different field. I enjoyed it and ultimately ended up working for H&R Block for 4 seasons. This position required ongoing training annually, both to upgrade levels of tax knowledge, as well as to be informed of tax law changes as they occurred.

In 2009, I returned to school for an Information Technology Certificate (Computers). Despite graduating from this certificate program, I chose not to follow in this direction as it did not suit me. Both the technological and administrative skills gained during this program, have been of much benefit. Some of these skills have been what have enabled me to manage, design and develop this website.

In 2015, I began doing some distance education courses towards obtaining my Community Advocacy Certificate via Ontario Learn. I completed 3 courses during the year. In September I took a break from school due to acquiring an additional employment contract. At this point I was considering enrolling full time at Conestoga College, in their Municipal Law Clerk Program. So I enrolled in an intro course, Introductory to Law, in September of 2015. This class was later cancelled due to low enrollment. I decided to reconsider my educational plans.

Deciding to follow another enjoyed school subject, I enrolled in Bookkeeping certificate program at Conestoga, beginning January of 2016. Initially, I was enrolled in the accelerated delivery program, but ultimately felt it best to reduce my course load to accommodate my families needs during this change. One credit shy of my Bookkeeping certificate, Marketing, I moved on to their Business Administration Accounting Diploma program in September 2016. Upon completing the required Marketing course I graduated with my Bookkeeping Certificate with Honors in June 2017. Since January 2016, I have been attending year round, though at a reduced load, to accommodate my family and personal needs. I am currently taking my first semester off since I began in 2016, to allow me the focus to manage this campaign.

In addition to my Conestoga classes, in June of 2017, I attended First Aid training through SaveALife's Red Cross certification program. This three day course helped me learn much and resulted in obtaining a three year certificate in Remote Wilderness First Aid, Level C CPR/AED. I intend to add to this via upgrading to the advanced training level, though I am uncertain when.

I am taking a break from my education at the moment. I hace not yet completed the Business Administration Diploma at Conestoga College , and am currently revaluating what direction to head in. I am uncertain of when, but still hold the intent to at some point continue to acquire the remaining courses to obtain my diploma.

Further information on the content and credentials obtained within my education can be found in the "Credentials and Courses" page.
