"When the dust of COVID-19 settles, we should look back at this moment as proof that our societies are not enslaved to fate, and find strength in the demonstrated ability of modern societies to react to global emergencies"

Housing, Homelessness
& now COVID-19

Ok first off, before any thoughts, adhere to those who know, not me. That is not the point in my page. Please see relative local Government and Public Health sites. (will seek to add links soon)

Though recently I had chosen to need to forego my standard volunteering of the last few years, having myself come into far too many crisis, and having been unable to acquire proper assistance as I should have  been given and repeatedly requested. Such being said, I am not looking at these as normal times, so lets talk folks. On the temporary, that no longer matters. We are all home and in this together right now. So here I write again.

I am blown. It's OK if you are too. We all are.

Just like every other person in this City, I am trying at the moment to figure out what the heck is going on and what to best do to aid. As is for all of us right now, this change of life will hit us in various ways ongoingly as we all recoup and regain.

This went pretty wild fairly quickly for a lot of people and we need to not only manage the immediate and upcoming needs of everyone, but to digest it as well. As much as anyone, I too am still processing all of this. Let’s all be gentle with each other when able. Ourselves included.

In this though, I also do not feel that this is a time to mince words nor focus on dollars. My own community experiences have not been that, and communications need to be happening better as all are shut into their homes as best as able. This is what gives all confidence enough to allow mitigation and suppression of the current situations by those who do know best. Confidence un-obtained will disallow proper management of this situation. I implore our local representatives to communicate, even in non relative discussion on social media and other such ways to assure that our citizens may know you better and respect the advice being given. As a citizen myself, I too am relying on our representatives at every level of Government to react and relay to us what to best offer in aid.

As per what I’ve held most recent focus on, I'd like to open some discussion on the current housing crisis within this.

Prior to now and for many years, there has been a growing need for affordable housing. Most recently released in January, (great read if curious- likely deeply altered now) the local Housing Needs Assessment. This offered outline of current local housing needs and brought much attention to numbers many had known but not had specifically laid out to review prior to such.

With the most recent developments of this pandemic I cannot find myself ok with remaining silent at a time when I do feel the need to “yell” as many know me to, in voice for those who have suffered even before this in struggling to survive.

In as much…

As I am not currently sure where to toss this I will continue to do such here…

More to come shortly as I get such together and post these updates as well.

Be well all!

Today and herein we unite. Politics, profits and stigmas tossed aside... I hope.  Its always been the time... now more than ever.
