I am hoping to improve how we look at and address local poverty issues. I bring my personal experiences, my education, and most of all my passion and grit to the table. I would like to help with building our children’s future.   - Regan Sunshine Brussé

Who am I in short?
I am a mother to 3 children, 8-year-old twin boys and a 13 year old daughter, and a Conestoga College Business Administration Accounting Student, expecting to graduate in late 2019. I have a multitude of business, technical and accounting education and experience, in addition to a thorough personal knowledge of the challenges faced by the lower income members of the Kitchener community. Previously self-employed working with Senior Citizens in their homes, I have a personal understanding of both the needs of the small business operator, and our aged community members. For many years I was also caregiver to my Oma. This has further assisted me to understand the needs seniors face as they age, the roadblocks they encounter, and at the end of the journey, the need for additional Hospice facilities within our community, with better funding and assistance provided for them.
In addition to caring for my family and pursuing my education, I also participate locally with The Alliance Against Poverty (AAP), acting as a vocal advocate for those of low income. My participation in the AAP  includes a variety of tasks including: public speaking, event organizing and financial responsibilities of the groups funds and social media accounts. I joined the group in December of 2015.  Some of my other previous volunteering experiences include Volunteer Tax Preparation Services through The Working Center, and computer repair and building at Computer Recycling.

Regan is committed to...

  • Advocating for affordable housing solutions and homelessness elimination
  • Advocating for solutions to the local opioid crisis
  • De-stigmatization of mental health and poverty
  • Environmentally responsible and inclusive ongoing financial growth and development within Kitchener
  • Supporting small business
  • Better inclusion of Ward 2 in public services and increasing the local communities access to them
  • Ongoing avocation for effective and affordable transit for our community and its lowest income members
