Everyday Politics with Laura Mae Lindo

I had the proviledge of joining Laura Pin on Laura Mae Lindo’s ‘Everyday Politics’ show, where we unpacked some of the findings from our Realizing the Right project’s most recent report. On this page, you'll find more information about the report and project, along with recorded content from the conversation (once available), and some additional written content and information resources connected to the topics we discussed.

I'm really feeling a need to to underscore that this action stands in direct contradiction to current case law.

I strongly urge the region to reconsider these illegal actions and focus towards ensuring the rights and dignity of the unhoused are upheld.

Counts & Capacities:
Cutting Through the Crap

Build zone - theoretically Intended Topic/point coverage
(some currently unexpanded trains of thought I may or may not get to)

  • Stigmatization of those living unsheltered
    • often shifts focus away from systemic issues, instead placing blame on the individuals
    • creates an "us vs. them" mentality, making it harder to see our shared humanity.
    • It can feel easier to imagine homelessness as someone else’s failing than to confront that, in a different set of circumstances, it could happen to anyone.
